Do you know that beverages from dispensers regularly contain bacteria? Customers need to be protected from microorganisms that can occur naturally or that can be spread by contact. Quality can suffer due to bio film build up and cross contamination of product. Do you know that soda fountain dispensers are only as clean as the people handling them? To protect your customers from the risk of infection, it is essential to clean and sanitize equipment where microorganisms can occur.

Ellickson International has a preventative solution for soda fountain dispensers which will kill all bacteria in a harmless, tasteless method: BevDok an FDA-approved receptacle which receives the head of a soda dispenser gun and sanitizes it on a regular basis.David Perry & Associates, Inc. is representing BevDok as it moves into the American market.

Or, for fountain dispensers and soda machines with nozzles, presents the sanitizing solution to the gun or machine to kill all bacteria.

In recently published reports, it has been proven that beverages obtained from soda fountain machines in the US may contain microorganisms including coliform bacteria.

Following a recent survey of 90 soda fountain dispensers in Virgina, micro-organisms, including coliform bacteria and E. coli were found in the beverages. A significant number of beverages obtained from soda fountain machines did not meet U.S. EPA drinking water standards for HPC, coliform bacteria or E. coli. In this particular study, 20% of beverages had HPC bacteria, 48% contained coliform bacteria and over 11% contained E. coli.

“The large number of beverages and soda fountain machines containing E. coli is still of considerable concern,” said the authors, “suggesting that more pathogenic strains of bacteria could persist and thrive in soda fountain machines if introduced.”

Most of the identified bacteria found on soda fountains showed resistance to one or more of 11 antibiotics tested. This would have serious consequences for people with a low immune deficiency or people with HIV/AIDS, cancer treatment patients and organ transplant patients. More than 8.5 million people are immune-compromised in the USA.
