9 October 2009, San Francisco, CA:  Remember when all you wanted for Christmas were your two front teeth? Well, times have changed. This year for the holidays kids are going to ask for a “Sweet Tooth”– specifically, Candy and the Sweet Tooths --  the San Francisco “just for kids” band that also delights parents.

On Sunday, November 29 at 1pm & 3pm, Candy & the Sweet Tooths will be Kickin’ Off the Holidays with music, dance and CD Release party at Zeum: San Francisco’s Children’s Museum in the Yerba Buena Gardens, 221 Fourth Street, SF (www.zeum.org

Tickets are $18 and may be purchased online at www.candyandthesweettooths.com.

In addition to Candy’s popular repertoire, the ensemble will premiere two new holiday songs and offer their new CD for sale – a perfect stocking stuffer.

A critically acclaimed stylist of adult vocals, Carol Peters, aka Candy, insists, “Music is the food of learning. Kids love to sing and dance, so we use song and dance to teach important lessons with a show of fun and interactive songs and costumes. Our music is educational, clean, and hilarious.”

She adds, “We want kids to know that there are lots of styles and forms of music that they can love and learn from. We have marches, bossas and waltzes. We do everything from hoedown to techno rock.”

The idea for a holiday show has been percolating with Peters for awhile.” There’s nothing wrong with the Nutcracker, but many families have had enough of the Nut,” Peters laughs. What better time of year than during the holiday season to give the gift of a good time. This is going to be the first of our annual Holiday Hoedowns.

Peters, an artist and mask maker, has created a pile of props that delight children. When she renders “If I were an Octopus,” a large but friendly octopus takes center stage. And when she sings about bullies, a cartoonishly threatening lion holds sway. “By illustrating our songs, we encourage kids to see as well as to listen,” says Peters. “Kids’ concerns are the Sweet Tooths’ concerns.”

The group’s kidcentric lyrics provide advice about topics such as tying shoe laces and biting nails as well as celebrating the delights of “mac and cheese.”

Susan Pacini a Discovery Bay mother of two says, “The Sweet Tooths have a song for everything my kids care about—or I want them to care about. It’s a lot easier getting them to bed when they are singing along with “If I were an octopus and had eight arms I could put myself to bed so fast.”
