Roger Rose - Communications Associate

Roger has been active in public relations and journalism since his start as an arts columnist for the Los Angeles Times in the 1980s. He's worked in the creation of promotional and marketing campaigns as well as campaign materials, including brochures, press kits, and promotional items. Currently he works as contributing editor and senior writer for CineSource Magazine www.cinesourcemagazine.com, which debuted in January 2008 as the leading film trade publication in the Bay area. Roger has an instinct for dialoging and extracting the flavorful parts of the interview from those with whom he chats.

Roger has served since 2006 as Disability Advocate on Mayor Newsom's Better Streets Plan, a project to support the greening of San Francisco's streets,
parks and public spaces. For the past three years, he has been active on the BART Accessibility Task Force and MUNI's Accessibility Advisory Committee. In 2004, he served in the Development Department of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, focusing on both Development Research and Individual Giving. Currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Independent Living Resource Center San Francisco, Roger also serves on the
ILRC Development Committee as well as various nonprofit roles, including grants review and project funding.

Roger's development skills led him to posts on local and national boards, committees, and advisory councils. He has served two terms as Grants Reviewer/Peer Panelist for the California Arts Council, as well as two terms on the Advisory Committee to the San Diego Arts & Humanities Commission. Roger's work in public affairs with the National Parks Service and the California State Parks led to positions in Information Research at the National Marine Sanctuary of San Francisco and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's field office.
