Coffee fans rejoice! The Museum Café at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art has its grand opening this weekend. Friday, February 25th, and Saturday, the 26th, the Museum will be offering hot coffee, specialty espresso drinks and a special appearance by Harvey’s Gourmet Donuts of Glen Ellen.
The official ribbon cutting will be Friday the 25th at 9:30 am, but the coffee will be flowing starting at 8 am. Regular hours for the Café will be 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon weekdays except Tuesdays and 11 am – 5 pm on weekends. Café fare will include coffees and teas as well as baked goods from Sonoma’s Artisan Bakers.
“Our hope is that the Museum Café will provide lots of lively conversation and a place to reflect on art and artists of our time,” says Kate Eilertsen, SVMA Executive Director.
Sonoma Valley Museum of Art just opened it’s new exhibitions, “Eco Chic: Towards Sustainable Swedish Fashion” and “Daniel McCormick: Iterations of Ecological Art and Design.” On February 25 and 26 the Museum will open three hours early–at 8 am –to allow Café patrons a chance to see the current show.
The Museum continues to sell “Fun de Latte” coffee passes to raise funds to start the café. A $150 contribution buys free drip coffee/tea for one year or a discount on specialty beverages. Information is available at the Café or at the Museum’s front desk.
The Museum Café is located at 551 Broadway inside the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art
