David Perry & Associates, Inc. is privileged to work with Swedish Consul General Barbro Osher and the San Francisco Consulate General of Sweden promoting a number of projects highlighting Swedish art and culture including the landmark The Enduring Designs of Josef Frank exhibit at the galleries of the San Francisco International Airport.

On June 16, 2011, the Consulate hosted a gala evening at the exhibit featuring a tribute from His Excellency Ambassador Jonas Hafström (Embassy of Sweden, Washington D.C.) and a presentation by Thommy Bindefeld of Svenskt Tenn, considered one of the world's foremost authorities on Frank's legacy. During an elegant reception hosted by San Francisco's Swedish Consulate, guests were treated to a performance by Swedish soprano Rebecca Rasmussen and Daniel Hormazábal Cortés, pianist: recipients of the Jenny Lind and the Swedish Royal Academy of Music Awards 2011.

The Austrian-born Frank (July 15, 1885-January 8, 1967) was equally acclaimed as a designer and architect. Acknowledged as a pioneer of Swedish modern design, Frank emphasized comfort and informality, using bright, bold colors and floral patterns to produce whimsical designs inspired by nature while many of his contemporaries took a severe approach to modernism. The objects on exhibition in The Enduring Designs of Josef Frank include: Primavera, a pattern designed for his home furnishings business in Vienna in the 1920s; an asymmetrical nineteen-drawer cabinet-on-stand designed in 1938 for Svenskt Tenn, one of the foremost design centers in Sweden; and numerous New York-inspired patterns such as Green Birds and US Tree created during his stay in Manhattan in the 1940s. Objects are exhibited courtesy of Svenskt Tenn, Stockholm, Sweden.

The Enduring Designs of Josef Frank is located pre-security in the International Terminal Main Hall Departures Lobby, San Francisco International Airport. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is on view to all Airport visitors through October 9, 2011.

The Honorary Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco represents Sweden in California. Its mission is to provide assistance to Swedes and to promote Swedish interests in the Bay Area. In addition to handling passport and consular issues, the Consulate facilitates exchange between Sweden and the U.S., organizes and promotes events and provides information about Sweden and Swedish activities in California.

Later in the year, San Francisco's Consulate General of Sweden will be promoting the honoring of the Bay Area's Kronos Quartet, who will receive the internationally renowned Polar Prize from His Majesty, the King of Sweden, at a ceremony in Stockholm on August 31, 2011. In November, the Consulate will sponsor a celebration marking the 110th birthday of Sweden's Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize, honoring the Nobel Laureates of California.
