AM Best Upgrades California Casualty Group’s Financial Strength Rating
B+ Financial Strength Rating and stable outlook reflects a strengthened capital position, improved operating results and stronger risk management
17 August 2026 – San Mateo, CA: California Casualty Group today welcomed AM Best’s upgrade of the Financial Strength Rating for its group members to B+ (Good) from B (Fair). AM Best also upgraded the companies’ Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings to “bbb-” (Good) from “bb+” (Fair). The outlook for all ratings is stable.
AM Best said the upgrades reflect California Casualty’s balance sheet strength , which AM Best assesses as strong, as well as a significant improvement in California Casualty’s overall risk management process, demonstrated by improved operating results and capital position over the past two years.

In addition to receiving the Financial Strength Rating upgrade from AM Best, California Casualty continues to maintain its Demotech A (Exceptional) Financial Stability Rating, highlighting that multipleindependent rating agencies recognize the company’s improved financial strength and commitment to serving policyholders.

The stable outlook reflects AM Best’s expectation that California Casualty will maintain its strong balance sheet strength assessment, supported by stable risk-adjusted capitalization.
