Hornblower Group Signs Historic
Equity in Infrastructure Project Pledge in San Francisco
Hornblower stands as the sole ferry operator among new signatories joining
national coalition committed to expanding opportunities
22 June 2026 San Francisco, CA: On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hornblower Group signed the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) Pledge, joining a growing national coalition of public agencies, private-sector companies and infrastructure leaders committed to expanding opportunities for small and Historically Underutilized Businesses across infrastructure supply chains.
Hornblower Group Chief Executive Officer Stephen Edwards signed the pledge on behalf of the company during EIP’s recent San Francisco signing ceremony, where Hornblower was recognized as the sole ferry operator among the new signatories. The milestone underscores Hornblower’s role as a national leader in ferry operations, maritime transportation, public-private partnerships, and community-building infrastructure.

“Hornblower is proud to sign the Equity in Infrastructure Project Pledge and stand with organizations across the country working to build a more inclusive and competitive infrastructure marketplace,” said Stephen Edwards, CEO of Hornblower Group. “As the nation’s leading ferry operator, we recognize the responsibility and the opportunity we have to help expand access across the maritime and transportation sectors. Given Hornblower’s California roots, it was particularly meaningful to sign the pledge in San Francisco.”

The EIP Pledge is a voluntary commitment to increase the number, size, and percentage of Historically Underutilized Businesses to grow into prime contractors, participate in joint ventures, or serve as equity participants. The pledge also encourages signatories to increase contracting opportunities for small businesses and first-time prime contractors, streamline procurement processes, improve payment times, expand access to financing and help grow the number of organizations committed to the pledge.
Hornblower’s participation builds on the company’s ongoing efforts to create more accessible and equitable opportunities throughout its global operations, helping drive economic growth and create pathways to success.
“Ferries are more than a mode of transportation — they are essential infrastructure that connect people, jobs, neighborhoods, and regional economies,” said Edwards. “By signing this pledge, Hornblower is affirming our commitment to ensuring that the future of infrastructure includes broader participation, stronger partnerships, and more opportunities for businesses and communities of all backgrounds.”
