Sailors from up and down the West Coast of North America will gather in Richmond for the 21st Annual Strictly Sail Pacific Sailboat Show. This internationally acclaimed, largest and oldest in-water sailboat show on the West Coast will move to the historic Craneway Pavilion and Marina Bay Yacht Harbor this year. Richmond’s historic waterfront offering an awe-inspiring panorama of the Bay and the San Francisco skyline, will be host to more than 100 in-water sailboats and over 200 exhibits for boats and marine accessories on land. The City of Richmond, the Richmond Museum Association, Riggers Loft Wine Company and Foss Maritime Company will celebrate the successful relocation of the historic SS Red Oak Victory ship and grand opening of the Riggers Loft Wine Company on Friday, March 4, 2016. The SS Red Oak Victory is the last surviving ship built in the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards during World War II, and it remains a monument to all the men and women who worked in war-related industries as part of the World War II Home Front.

The successful relocation of the ship to Basin 5 will be complimented by the grand opening of Richmond’s newest winery – Riggers Loft Wine Company. The winery will feature a wine production facility, wine tasting room, banquet facility and panoramic views of San Francisco Bay, including unparalleled views of downtown San Francisco and the East Bay.

Doug McConnell’s OpenRoad on NBC Bay Area Channel 11 will explore the longest protected shoreline of any city in the Bay Area on segments of the Bay Trail in Richmond. We’ll see where ships were built that helped win World War 2, where passengers on transcontinental trains once boarded ferries for their final leg to San Francisco, and where explosives were made that helped build the west. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party, the exhibit offers a glimpse of the party’s role in the City of Richmond.
