Saluting Audrey Joseph

Today for International Women’s Month we salute Audrey Joseph: lighting and sound genius, rocker, roadie, entrepreneur and legendary lesbian do gooder and dog lover.

Commissioner for the SF Entertainment Commission from 2003 to 2017, Audrey served as its president four times. As the owner during the ‘80s and ‘90s of Townsend nightclub home to Club Universe she raised tens of thousands of dollars for pediatric AIDS, LGBTQ rights, Women’s health, animal rights, clothing the homeless and served as a drop-in center post 911 for all those who were affected directly or indirectly by the terrorist bombings.

Now “retired” but never retiring, she makes her home in Palm Springs with frequent trips back to the Bay Area.
