WHY: Through October, iconic films are being presented FREE in parks across San Francisco as part of the San Francisco Parks Alliance “Sundown Cinema.” This Friday, July 8, the iconic set-in-San Francisco classic Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home will be screened in Union Square Park. Attendance is FREE, with an option for reserved seating available online at www.sfparksalliance.org

Star Trek IV, the Voyage Home is full of hope and love for San Francisco, exactly what our community and ambassadors bring to Union Square every day.”

  • Friday, July 29 – Marina Green: Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (part 2)
  • Friday, August 19 – India Basin: Encanto
  • Friday, September 9 – Alamo Square: Indiana Jones
  • Friday, September 10 – Crane Cove Park / Potrero Point: Shang Chi
  • Friday, October 21 – Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre / McLaren Park: Addams Family Values


Each year, the “Sundown Cinema” film series celebrates the unique character and beauty of San Francisco’s parks and neighborhoods and helps sustain these community spaces by donating a portion of proceeds to SF Parks Alliance. The entire series is free and open to the public, but guests are encouraged to RSVP to win reserved seating or reserve a seat directly by becoming an SF Parks Alliance member.
